How we price
Last updated 3 November 2026
Every budget is worked out from public data. Here’s how.
Daily costs
- Big cities (Bali, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Paris, London, New York, Barcelona and others) use published 2026 daily budgets from travel guides, dated on each result.
- Everywhere else uses World Bank price levels for the country (International Comparison Program), calibrated against published traveller budgets.
- We split the day into stay, food, transport and activities, and adjust for budget, mid-range or luxury style and group size (one room per two people).
Flights
A distance-based estimate between the two cities, checked against published fares. Tap “Check live fares” for the real price on the day.
The range
Real trips vary, so we show a likely range around the total as well as one number.
Entry rules
UK passports: GOV.UK foreign travel advice. US passports: US State Department. Other passports: the open Passport Index dataset, marked as unofficial.
Exchange rates
Live rates for 160+ currencies from Exchange Rate API.
Places, events and photos
Places from Wikivoyage, Wikidata and OpenStreetMap (via Geoapify); public holidays from Nager.Date plus festivals we research; photos from Wikimedia Commons, credited on each card.
